Structured Dog Training That Delivers Real Results

If your dog is pulling on walks, ignoring commands, jumping on guests, or struggling with focus, you are not alone. Many dog owners in Leawood reach a point where they want real progress but do not have the time or structure to get there on their own.

That is where board and train comes in.

At Sit Now Stay, our Board and Train program gives your dog a clear, structured learning environment with professional trainers guiding every step. While your dog is with us, they are not just staying here. They are learning how to be calm, responsive, and confident in everyday life.

What Is Board and Train?

Board and train, also called boarding school, is a program where your dog stays with our training team for a set period of time while we build foundational skills and behavior.

This is a great fit for Leawood dog owners who:

  • Have busy schedules
  • Feel stuck with training at home
  • Want faster, more consistent progress
  • Are dealing with frustrating behavior issues

Instead of trying to figure it out on your own, you get a structured system handled by experienced professionals.

7-Day

The 7-Day Boarding School is designed as a structured introduction for dogs who need direction, engagement, and a clear starting point. This program focuses on building attention, developing marker-based communication, improving impulse control, and introducing calm routines that set expectations from the start. It is an excellent fit for newly adopted dogs, younger high-energy dogs, and owners who want a professional foundation in place.

14-Day

The 14-Day Boarding School is our most requested program and works well for the majority of dogs. This extended time allows us to establish strong obedience, improve leash behavior, reduce jumping and overexcitement, and build reliable focus in distracting environments. Many dogs complete this program able to walk calmly on leash, greet people appropriately, and respond with confidence both at home and in public settings.

21-Day

The 21-Day Boarding School is our most in-depth program, ideal for dogs who need stronger reliability, advanced distraction work, or additional time to build confidence and consistency. Training moves through foundational skills, controlled exposure to distractions, and more complex real-world scenarios. This often includes off-leash foundations, dependable recall, structured place behavior around guests, and calm, composed behavior in public environments.

Why Board and Train Works So Well

Dogs learn best through consistency, repetition, and clear expectations, which can be difficult to maintain in a busy home environment. Between work, family, and daily responsibilities, even the most committed owners can struggle to follow a structured training plan. When expectations change from day to day, dogs are left guessing, and that is when unwanted behaviors tend to stick.

Board and train removes that inconsistency. In a professional training environment, your dog experiences the same clear communication, structured routines, and guided practice every single day. This creates faster understanding and more reliable behavior because your dog is not trying to interpret mixed signals. Instead, they are building habits through repetition and clarity.

Just as important, your dog is learning from trainers who know how to guide behavior in real time. That means issues are addressed immediately, progress is reinforced correctly, and your dog gains confidence as they succeed. The result is not just quicker improvement, but a stronger foundation that carries over when your dog comes home.

Support does not stop when a program ends. Ongoing guidance helps keep training on track as your dog grows and situations change.

A Clear Communication System

Our marker-based communication system gives dogs precise, consistent feedback that reduces confusion and speeds up learning. Owners leave with a repeatable system they can use long after the program ends.

Structured Training Progression

Every dog follows a defined progression that builds skills in the correct order. Foundations come first, followed by leash communication, household manners, and real-world application so training feels logical and achievable.

Purpose-Built Training Facility

All Boarding School programs take place at our professional training facility in Lenexa. The environment is calm, structured, and designed specifically for learning rather than chaos or overstimulation.

Real Results You Can Expect

Every dog is different, but most owners notice meaningful changes in both behavior and overall energy by the time their dog completes the program. Dogs that once felt chaotic or unpredictable begin to settle, respond more consistently, and move through their environment with more clarity. Simple things like walking on leash, greeting guests, or relaxing at home start to feel easier and more manageable.

These changes happen because your dog is not just learning commands. They are learning how to think, how to respond to guidance, and how to stay connected even with distractions around them. This leads to a dog who listens more reliably, makes better choices, and feels more confident in everyday situations.

Problems Board and Train Helps Solve

Our board and train programs are designed to address real-life challenges that affect your daily routine.

Common challenges we help Leawood families work through include:

  • Pulling on leash during walks
  • Jumping on guests or family members
  • Not listening when called
  • Difficulty settling or relaxing at home
  • Overexcitement around visitors or outings
  • Inconsistent manners in public places
  • Puppy biting, chewing, or potty accidents

By improving communication and consistency, behavior becomes more predictable and manageable. Training is integrated into daily routines so skills are reinforced naturally, helping owners feel confident and supported.

Board & train FAQs

  • How long is the Boarding School program?

Program length is determined after the Free Training Day. We recommend the option that best matches your dog’s needs and your goals.

  • Will my dog train with other dogs?

Dogs are trained individually. There is no group play. Any exposure to other dogs is structured, controlled, and purposeful.

Yes. We regularly work with pulling, jumping, poor impulse control, and focus challenges. More complex behavior concerns are evaluated individually to ensure safety and fit.

  • How do I stay involved while my dog is training?

You receive regular video updates and written progress notes throughout the program. A go-home lesson is included so you know exactly how to continue the work.

  • Is Boarding School a permanent solution?

Training builds strong habits, but owner follow-through matters. We provide the tools, structure, and guidance needed to maintain progress at home.
