Frequently Asked Questions About Sit Now Stay
Sit Now Stay is a professional dog training facility in Lenexa, Kansas, serving families across the Kansas City metro. Since 2014, we have trained 2,500+ dogs using clear communication, structured routines, and individualized training plans.
Most questions we get are about where to start, what program makes the most sense (Day School, Boarding School, puppy training, and more), and what support looks like after training. Our most common starting point is the
Complimentary Training Day, where we evaluate your dog and recommend the right next steps.

FAQs
How do I know which program is right for my dog?
We figure that out together. Most clients start with a Complimentary Training Day so we can work with your dog and recommend the right fit. Puppies usually need foundations and confidence. Day School is great for steady progress while your dog goes home at night. Boarding School works well when you want a strong jump start or have limited time. We guide you to what your dog actually needs.
How long does training take, and what results are realistic?
Training is not instant, but most dogs improve quickly once communication is clear. Leash manners, focus, and household rules usually come first. Long term reliability comes from consistency and follow through at home. Our goal is progress you can keep, not short term fixes.
What training methods do you use, and will I need special tools?
We use a clear, structured, and humane training system built on marker based communication. Dogs learn faster when they understand exactly what earns success. You do not need a drawer full of tools. We teach you how to use simple equipment correctly and focus on skills you can use anywhere.
Is Board and Train a good fit for my dog?
Board and Train can be a great option when done right. The biggest things to watch for are transparency, safety, and owner education. At Sit Now Stay, our Boarding School includes daily training, regular updates, and coaching after the stay so results transfer to real life. If a program promises guarantees or avoids questions, that is a red flag.
What happens after training so results stick at home?
We coach you. Training does not stop when your dog finishes a program. We show you how to apply the skills at home and support you as real life happens. If issues pop up later, you are not starting over. We help you get back on track.
Can you help with reactivity, anxiety, or bigger behavior issues?
Yes, with honest expectations. These cases need structure, safety, and owner involvement. We use clear communication, confidence building, and management to reduce stress and improve behavior. We will always tell you what is realistic and what support is required.
What vaccines are required for boarding?
Dogs must be current on core vaccines, including rabies, distemper, and bordetella. We review records before any boarding or training stay to keep every dog safe.
What should I bring for boarding, and how do you handle care and updates?
Bring your dog’s regular food and any labeled medications or supplements. We keep feeding routines consistent and administer meds as directed. During training programs, you receive regular updates so you know how your dog is doing.

Is Board and Train Right for My Dog?
Board and Train can be a strong option for families who want professional, daily training support and faster structure, especially for leash skills, household manners, and foundational obedience. The key to long term success is owner involvement, which is why quality programs include communication, transparency, and clear follow through after the stay.
At Sit Now Stay, our
